Cover and Blurb Reveal & Giveaway ~ The Spell of Summer, by Dianna Hardy

Once times thrice, I bind thine heart

to mine, to hold, to never part.

Scribbled words on parchment found under her mother's bed - they couldn't possibly mean anything, even if her mum is a white witch. But to fifteen-year-old wild child, Meredith Goodwill, they meant the world when she uttered them to Jamie, the fun-loving boy who stole her heart that last summer she spent in Cornwall.

Thirteen years later and now a straight-laced accountant in London, the words have been forgotten; the summer a faded memory ... until Meredith stands at the altar on her wedding day, looks the man she's about to give her heart to in the eye, and calls him Jamie.

Her wedding is in tatters. To appease her hurt fiancé, and at her mother's insistence, Meredith's new focus is to track Jamie down and reverse whatever she unwittingly did when she spoke those words from her mother's spell. But how will she convince him to believe in 'magic' so he can help her undo it?

That's the least of her worries, because Jamie hasn't forgotten her, and the cheeky, brown-eyed boy with the messy locks is now the ballsy, smoky-eyed man with the tousled, bed-me hair.

It's summer all over again ... and the spell is far from finished.

Love and other Demons - The Witching Pen Blog Tour

Guest post: THE EVOLUTION OF THE LAST DRAGON

If you have not yet read The Witching Pen series, these posts may contain mild spoilers, as we are now on the last book!

With The Last Dragon released on 4th October, we’re having a little recap at everything that’s happened in this paranormal fantasy romance series so far. In this particular post, I’m looking at my journey from A (writing The Witching Pen) to B (finishing The Last Dragon) … in a nutshell, of course!

Is The Last Dragon very different to how I originally intended it?

Not that different (the ending is definitely the same) although there is one main character who decided to go ‘their own way’. What turned out to be their plot, was not something that I had planned out at all, but when talking to them about it (yeah, I do talk with my characters – and dream about them…) they said, ‘This is huge! You’re missing out on a big part of the story if you don’t write me this way.” So, there you go. With that in mind, I would say that The Last Dragon is 65% the same as I’d originally thought, and 35% different.

Originally, The Witching Pen series was going to be a trilogy, and I was going to fit in the events of The Last Dragon into The Demon Bride (book three). But The Demon Bride turned out to be quite intricate, with the stories all much longer and involved than I had planned, so The Last Dragon became its own book. I suppose you could look at it as a long and insane epilogue(!).
Book one (The Witching Pen) was, without a doubt, a paranormal romance, and I had intended all three books to be romance focused. That didn’t really happen. Books two and three were much more plot heavy, and the romance, although still there, took second place to the main event, which was all about the Pen – its creation, its purpose and its destruction, interweaved with another intricate story that begins in book two, continues in book three and will not see its conclusion until The Last Dragon.
So, I labelled The Last Dragon  a “spin-off” to the three books, because it is an urban fantasy by nature (no longer a paranormal romance), with the entire focus on the plot.
Writing The Last Dragon itself has proven to be more than a challenge, and I’m still not sure why that is the case. I found it much harder to write than the other books, even though the story has been there in my mind since book two. I think it’s because we are waiting for the apocalypse to “get going” in this book. Yes, it’s technically taken place, but the Dragon is yet to rise, and everything rests on that. In effect, the characters are all in “no man’s land” while they wait, and what they discover, is that the table needs to be cleared before it can be set.

~ BLURB ~
It's hard being the most powerful witch on the planet. It's even harder when you're a twenty-five year old virgin who'll lose all of that power the moment you sleep with someone ... that's why Elena's never slept with her best friend and flatmate, Karl, despite the true feelings they harbour for each other.

Elena's about to discover that there are even more difficult things in life to deal with. One of them comes in the form of a pen she discovers one day, a pen that allows anything she writes to come to pass...

Suddenly, it's not just her powers or her heart that's at stake, but her very soul, as a dream demon with a seductive pull uses the pen to try and turn her away from her reality, and from Karl.

But the pen is just the beginning. Everything Elena has believed in is a lie, and her world is about to fall apart...

The entire series can be viewed here: http://www.diannahardy.com/the-witching-pen-novellas.html and mark 4th October on your calendar to know how it all ends with The Last Dragon.
