I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and now I live not far from my birth place in Perry
Hall, Maryland. I have two teenage daughters and a man that keep me busy when I'm not working full-time as a Certified Medical Coder. I'm an avid reader and I love all genre of romantic fiction from historical to contemporary to paranormal. Sleeping has always been a problem for me so most nights I can be found in the living room reading or writing instead of in bed like the rest of the world. I don't watch television. It's not a conscious decision, it just never occurs to me to turn it on when I have books to read and writing to do. It can actually be a hazard, because I never know what the weather will be until I look outside and I have to rely on my kids and coworkers for local and world news. I love creating the characters you love and love to hate. My characters remind me of people I know and people I wish I had never known.

Review

If you love magical fantasy adventure then this series is definitely for you.  From the vivid descriptions to the character development, the author has done an amazing job and I was completely transfixed throughout the entire story.  Book 1 was great, but it was more scene setting, book 2 is much more in depth and you can really get swept away with the story and romance.  I can't wait to read more of this series.

Author Information

Thanks for coming to my page. About me, hmm? What to say? I was born in California, lived in England for a time, then settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today much of my time is spent in the Land of Make Believe, visiting my characters, encouraging them to tell me their stories. Now they won’t shut the frak up! If you write, you know what I mean. If you don’t, you probably think I’m insane. Guess what? You’re right!

At ten, I moved to England for a year and half, living with my brother and sister-in-law who were stationed at Upper Heyford Air Force Base. I went to an English school in Chipping Norton. Being the only American in an all British school was quite the experience. It was here I was introduced to the world of fantasy—Lord of the Rings to be exact—as well as Celtic mythology. This experience forever influenced my love of reading—from fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and contemporary romance. And in case you’re wondering, I adore Harry Potter. Seriously, who doesn’t? If you don’t, uh, keep it to yourself.

I’d like to tell you writing has been my lifelong pursuit, that I’ve written all my life. But honestly, almost four years ago, I stumbled upon it by accident. Now, I can’t imagine my life without it. I’ve always had an active imagination but it never translated to the page. During an extended stay at home due to medical issues, and bored out of my skull, I sat down at my computer, and started writing memories from days gone by. Those memories turned into a story, and I started to wonder if I had it in me to write an entire novel. Encouraged by a writer friend I opened my mind and let characters have free rein. Before I knew it, months had passed and I was well into my first novel. Long story short, three and a half years later—and three rewrites—my first novel, Colour Wielders was complete and accepted by Curiosity Quills Press. The first book in the Heirs of the Magykal Realm will be published late in 2012 or early 2013.

Besides writing my other passions are my husband, my dogs, and Football. My team is the Miami Dolphins—sadly, I don’t have high hopes for the 2012-2013 season. Don’t be surprised when at least one of my blog posts, on Raver’s Rants and Raves, includes an outpouring of grief over the Fin’s performance, but I will try to keep my public dissatisfaction to a minimum. At least I have the Manning brothers. Though Peyton in Denver Bronco colors is just, well, disturbing.

I hope you enjoy your visits here, and in particular, enjoy my Comic Reviews. I look forward to connecting with new people and making friends. Can’t wait for your comments.

Cheers!

Review

From the start I could tell I was going to enjoy reading this book, as it has everything I love to read about – romance, wolves and the paranormal.  It’s incredibly well written and the story flowed so smoothly that I soon found myself quickly devouring the chapters.  One of the most interesting parts for me was that the wolves shift to men, rather than the other way round which is typical of most stories, and are born as pups.

Paige and Riley are perfect for each other.  Riley is the sort every girl would fall, gorgeous, sensitive and knows what he wants and Paige is strong and independent, determined to get her dream career.  Their romance isn’t easy, with pack life getting in the way, but love really does conquer all for them.  There were other characters that also came to life, Riley’s twin sister Quinn being one of them, and if there are any plans to turn this into a series her story would be great to read.  Over all, this really is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys reading paranormal romance.

EXCERPT

Riley was a beautiful wolf. It made sense, considering he was a beautiful man. The sunlight streaming through the windows in the living room touched parts of his body and revealed his entire coat was the color of pure snow. A soft glow emanated from his amber eyes, and they were almost hypnotic. In the light of day, they didn't glow as brightly as they did at night.

Riley and I were both still, our gazes locked on each other. I had lost the capacity to speak. I couldn't believe what I had witnessed. Two humans had transformed into wolves, one right in front of me. How is this possible?

He stepped forward, slowly and cautiously, and my muscles tensed. He took another step until he was close enough to touch. My breathing increased, and I pressed my back against the sofa. I wouldn't dare touch him. I wasn't sure if he could control his animal form. He whimpered as he sat on his hind legs and put his head on my knee. There was a message behind his eyes that I didn’t understand.
"He's not going to hurt you, Paige."

I turned my head to see Quinn had transformed back into her human form. Her breasts were exposed, but she didn't seem embarrassed. It became obvious the twins were comfortable being naked around me. She looked at her brother and then settled her blue eyes on me.

"It's still Riley," she said quietly. "He's fully aware of what's going on. He knows it's you."
Quinn must’ve noticed my hesitation. I'll admit her words made me feel more comfortable.

~ Review ~

YA adventure, with a subtle hint of dystopian, this book was slightly outside my normal genres but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it from start to finish.  At the start, all 15 year old Terra has to worry about is who might bid on her at her clan’s wedding party, but soon her whole world is ripped apart following the death of her dad and watching her mum being murdered.  By the end of the story, she has grown into a strong female leader that would do anything for the friends she has met along her travels, and will fight to ensure their survival.

This book has a bit of everything including action, adventure, love, loyalty, friends and family.  There is plenty of death and destruction, but it’s written in such a way that it wasn’t gruesome or disturbing to read and would be perfect for younger readers as well as adults.  The best part for me was watching the various relationships grow and seeing Terra find her true self.  There is so much more to come from this story, and I can’t wait to see where events are going to lead Terra to next.
